What We Do
We provide expert building energy consultancy for residential and commercial projects in Bristol, Swansea, London, and across the UK. Our services include pre-planning advice, SAP and BREEAM assessments, energy statements, compliance support, testing, and bespoke sustainability consultancy. We help clients achieve energy targets, improve building performance, and deliver sustainable, low-energy buildings efficiently.
How It Started
Since 2006, Melin was founded on delivering practical, results-focused solutions, following our principle of 10% calculation and 90% solution. This approach has allowed us to build long-term, trusted relationships with self-builders, architects, housing developers, housing associations, and local authorities across the UK. Our focus remains on creating buildings that are compliant, energy-efficient, and future-ready.

Mel & Jamie decide to become trained SAP assessors ready for the April 6th
Regs change – SAP’s are now mandatory
Mel starts Melin Energy Consultants to work for herself as she’s pregnant with first child
Finn is born and Mel is so busy she has to employ a trainee SAP assessor
second trainee SAP assessor taken on.
Melin Energy Consultants was officially listed on Companies House
Jamie Best quit full time job to join Melin (as MD)
Chris Amos joined Melin as air tester
Darren Baker joined Melin as SBEM assessor
We outgrow the house and moved into office premises in Tycroes
We reached 10 employees and moved to Llanelli and opened an office in Bristol
Big move to bigger premises in The Beacon, Llanelli
Senior members of the team Chris and Darren were made share holders
With workload in and around the south east continuing at pace, we open our 3rd office in London
Our main headquarters moves to larger premises in Swansea
