Not all valuable business work happens on-site or in a spreadsheet. This spring, Melin Consultants helped kit out the U6s at Drefach FC. As a result, the team stepped out in brand new shirts. We couldn’t be prouder to have played a small part in their season. As sustainability consultants, we spend most weeks thinking about buildings, energy performance and compliance. Every so often, however, a project comes along that has nothing to do with SAP calculations or BREEAM ratings. Instead, this one is all about community.
Why we got involved
Drefach FC‘s kit presentation brought players, parents and coaches together to celebrate the new season. The U6s wore sharp new shirts, each one carrying the Melin Consultants logo on the back. In addition, two other local sponsors joined us on the kit. It’s a small gesture, but for the families involved, it means a great deal. Grassroots clubs like Drefach rely on local support to keep training affordable. Kit isn’t cheap, so naturally, we were glad to help.
Meanwhile, one of our own, Chris Amos, already gives up his time to support Drefach Community Sports Club. He coaches young players and helps the club grow, season after season. Sponsoring the U6s, therefore, felt like a natural next step from there.
What this means for us
We won’t pretend that sponsoring children’s football kit is our core business strategy. It isn’t. However, it says something about who we are. Melin Consultants has grown steadily since 2006. That growth has always been rooted in genuine relationships. This applies whether we’re working with clients, contractors, or the community around our Swansea office. Consequently, backing a local team feels like a natural fit.
Meanwhile, we’ll be cheering the U6s on from the sidelines this season. We’re already looking forward to seeing them run out in their new shirts, again and again, match after match.
