Bhavana Subramanya

Bhavana is a Technical Consultant at Melin Consultants, working across both the residential and commercial sectors of the business. Shortly after joining the company, she became a qualified On-Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA) and now supports clients in achieving their desired Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings through accurate modelling and practical energy efficiency advice. She is also experienced in using IESVE software to undertake dynamic thermal modelling and Part O overheating assessments.

Alongside her EPC work, Bhavana specialises in BREEAM assessments and is particularly passionate about the scheme’s holistic approach to sustainable development. She enjoys becoming involved at the earliest stages of a project, collaborating with architects, developers and design teams to maximise opportunities for reducing both embodied and operational carbon emissions.

Bhavana’s passion for sustainable architecture developed through first-hand experience of the environmental impacts associated with conventional construction methods, inspiring her to pursue a Master’s degree in Environmental Design of Buildings. Looking ahead, she is keen to further explore passive and vernacular design solutions that can contribute to the advancement of net-zero and low-carbon building practices.

Outside of work, Bhavana is a trained classical dancer who has performed extensively in India. She is also a keen photographer with a love for capturing landscapes, travelling, and experiencing new places and cultures.
